Commenting on the project, Mike Ford, Managing Director at Responsible Power, said “ We have been working closely with Slough Community Leisure (SCL) and specifically their Langley Leisure Centre site, to support their ongoing energy efficiency programme. SCL have a significant energy consumption profile across their estate and have for some time now focussed efforts and capital on reducing their consumption and striving for efficiency however in doing so have had very little intelligence or useful data upon which to base their decisions. Up until we installed our Diagnostics tool, they had been relying upon their meter data, which provided them nothing more than half hourly consumption profiles.
Once we had installed our diagnostics tool, we were immediately able to see consumption by circuit and key appliance down to a minute resolution.
Straight away we identified significant areas of potential savings and inefficiency.
Their overnight base load was analysed and approximately 20-25% of it was unnecessary. We identified the following, all examples of inefficiencies that can easily be rectified yet almost impossible to get visibility of without the diagnostic tool application.
Air conditioning being left on in the gym, pool pumps operating for longer periods than they are required to and exterior lighting operating times not being linked to seasonal daylight hours.
To date, we have identified potential savings in excess of £8,000, equating to more than 15% of their annual bill.
We are now working with them to implement these, and many more efficiency initiatives and indeed are looking to roll out the diagnostics service across their wider SCL Estate.
